In 1992 the Council of Europe defined sport as ‘any form of physical activity’ having at least one of these three purposes. The first – competition – is already well-known, while the other two need to be mentioned more frequently: ‘the improvement of the psychophysical condition’ and ‘the development of social relations’.
With the 2021 Coschooling Forum we would like to focus on sport as a key element in the physical and cognitive development of children and teenagers.
It is a call to action for schools, families, and sports clubs. Alone we can do little, but together we can build a better world, right away. If you really want it and you know how to do it…
Sixteen Italian and international experts will help us throughout the process.

A call to action for everybody.
The Coschooling Forum ‘Sport at school’ was born with the aim of uniting people. We believe that school cannot be separated from families and sports clubs. That is why we support the creation of a community of adults raising future generations together.
Science gave us tools we had never had before: now we know which are the best conditions for a harmonious development of intellectual skills. A suitable physical exercise is one of these conditions.
It is not an add-on or an activity for a few subjects (e.g., PE teachers or coaches). Sport, according to the definition given by the Council of Europe mentioned above and the ministerial guidelines, must become part of every activity.
This is not a dream: you can do physical exercise while performing maths calculations, for example. In this forum you will see some concrete examples, and much more:
- professors and researchers will show the benefits for the brain and well-being in general,
- coaches and athletes will bring their experiences and examples,
- teachers and educators will bring their everyday experiences.
Finally, the word ‘sport’ comes from the Latin ‘deportare’ meaning ‘taking out’. That is why ‘Sport at school’ seemed to be the best successor to the previous edition entitled ‘Outdoor schooling’.
The record-breaking numbers* of the first edition.

ABOUT US
Biella Cresce is an association aiming at changing the way we raise the new generations.
Biella Cresce is the first project in Italy whose aim is disseminating the most up-to-date scientific findings on learning all over the world.
The association was founded by Valeria Rosso and Rodolfo Cavaliere and it is made of many learning tutors. It works in partnership with Polo Apprendimento and it is supported by a group of illuminated companies.
Briefly: we learn, put into practice, and disseminate the most up-to-date scientific findings to raise a better generation together.
1. We learn.
We learn from the best Italian and international researchers in the field of learning. We finance our learning tutors’ training, and we attend courses and conferences to constantly keep up to date with the latest scientific findings. Moreover, we are always in contact with the best Italian and international scientists.
2. We put into practice.
We put what we learn into practice with hundreds of children every year. We have turned our territory (Biellese) into a big laboratory, where teaching through games and domain-specific learning are applied not only to help children with learning disabilities, but also to improve all children’s skills.
3. We disseminate.
Finally, we disseminate our knowledge and experience through training courses (both online and on site), conferences, and events. Our aim is reaching the highest number of people possible, spreading our knowledge, and encouraging people to put it into practice with their children. As our motto says, ‘let’s raise a better generation together’.
COMMENTARIES
One year ago, more than 7,000 people took part in our event and left some wonderful comments.
‘I thought of putting a megaphone at the window, so that everybody could listen to it!’
Valeria Zoffoli
‘Thank you so much for this precious opportunity, the high quality of the speakers and for your great passion and motivation. I could really feel all this, also via Web’.
Verusca Friggeri
‘Thanks for this nice journey… I’m one of those who followed this marathon since 10 AM. A long but fascinating day, I couldn’t get away from the screen.
It’s the school I’d like to have. To use one of the speakers’ words “It’s not a method but a philosophy of life that goes beyond teaching”. Useful for educators, teachers, and parents.
Thanks for giving me the chance to know you’.
Mariangela Melandri
‘One of the best conferences I took part in. Really exciting!! Thanks a lot’.
Giselle Poggi
‘You emanate a wonderful energy, thanks for the chance of thinking differently, thinking bigger!’
Fulvia Grassi
‘Thank you so much… this conference dealt with all that I’ve always dreamt and thought of for a different school. Through the experiences of the speakers that enlightened us, you made us believe that outdoor schooling is possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you… “Strength lies in the community and group…” A lesson to take to heart...’.
Marina Rizzo
‘I couldn’t get away from the screen… you gave us not only concepts and experiences, but also an incredible energy. Thanks!’
Rossella Lecchi
‘This Saturday I was surrounded by green in front of the PC, with all its different and sometimes barely perceptible nuances. Like blades of grass…. Have you ever watched them carefully? Have you ever established a relationship with them?
I found a good conference coordinator/moderator, careful and curious, like all people who study, experience and design.
I watched and listened to stories, not fairy tales but real examples, real passionate and enthusiastic people. I experienced the worder, discovery, surprise, curiosity, and the desire to learn. I understood that such concepts as freedom and commitment are firmly but delicately intertwined.
From 10 AM to 6 PM, I’ve been rocked in the arms of different types of outdoor schooling, thanks to Biella Cresce, the association that organised the conference. No dreams, no fancies. Only reality, as well as concrete and proven possibilities. Now I go to bed full of energy, enriched and grateful".
Ilaria Giotto
"W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L-!!!!".
Alessandra Crespi
"It’s the only conference I took part in recently that makes concrete proposals, shows a feasible way, better than the typical situation of schools before the Covid-19 pandemic".
Cristina Cannoni
"Thank you for having organized a well-structured and never ordinary conference with an ongoing technical support for us at home… A long live stream and many speakers who managed to analyse many different aspects. Thanks to them for their availability and clearness in the examples and choice of words".
